Felipe Cabrera " Medusa " with Judith Sánchez Ruiz (Felipe Cabrera "Medusa" with Judith Sánchez Ruiz), Musical, France, 2021
"Medusa" Felipe Cabrera (double bass, composition) Leonardo Monatana (piano) Lukmil Perez (drums) Judith Sánchez Ruiz (choreography, dance) The music of "Medusa" was born in Havana, during a 110-day lock-down when Felipe Cabrera found himself alone in the country that saw him grow up. Pillar of the great Cuban jazz school, the double bassist based in Paris has decided to turn his accidental return to his native country into art in times of pandemic. While Cuba was completely closing in on itself to absorb the global disruption, he composed five superb musical pieces, which he created for Banlieues Bleues with his faithful trio and a distinguished guest, also from Cuba, the choreographer and dancer Judith Sanchez Ruiz. Recorded at the Salle Jacques-Brel (Pantin) on March 19, 2021, as part of the 38th Banlieues Bleues festival, Directed by Guillaume Dero

Electronic Vibrations - A sound changes the world (Electronic Vibrations: Ein Sound verändert die Welt), Musical, Germany, 2021
Electronic Vibrations - A sound changes the world Whether techno or hip-hop - electronic music is nowadays the driving force of pop culture. We have almost forgotten that its origins lie in the WDR's electronic studio, which made Cologne to one of the centres of the avant-garde during the post-war years. This is the story of how a room full of strange devices would become a cabinet of curiosities, the vibrations of which sent the whole world in a state of ecstasy. From the beginnings directly after the Second World War in Paris with Pierre Schaeffer's 'musique concrète', the film focuses on Stockhausen and goes on to Kraftwerk, from Jean-Michel Jarre and the IRCAM studio right up to Detroit to the beginnings of techno. Directed by Thomas von Steinaecker

The life I love - The pianist Menahem Pressler (Der Pianist Menahem Pressler - "Das Leben, das ich liebe"), Biography, Musical, Germany, 2014
The life I love - The pianist Menahem Pressler The music world has known Menahem Pressler for more than half a century and mainly for his work with the famous Beaux Arts Trio. He was the heart of this ensemble and when in 2008 the trio decided to separate, it was not the end for Menahem Pressler's career - in fact it was the start of a most remarkable and successful path as a soloist and in 2013, the 90-year-old grand seigneur of the piano gave his long overdue debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker. In 'The life I love - the pianist Menahem Pressler', from talks with Pressler over excerpts from one of his Master Classes, to interviews with artists like Daniel Harding, Quatuor Ébène, Leonidas Kavakos or Daniel Hope, we will gain deep insights into the life of this enchantingly "venerable prodigy". Menahem Pressler died on May 6, 2023 Directed by Grete Liffers 2014

Wagner's Jews (Wagner's Jews), Biography, Musical, History, USA, 2013
Wagner's Jews Richard Wagner was notoriously anti-Semitic, and his writings on Jews were later embraced by Hitler and the Nazis. But for years, many of Wagner's closest associates were Jews - young musicians who became personally devoted to him, and provided crucial help to his work and career. Why were they drawn to him? And how could Wagner even accept their embrace? These questions are at the heart of 'Wagner's Jews', the first film to focus on Wagner's complex personal relationships with Jews. Filmed on location in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, 'Wagner's Jews' reveals this remarkable story through archival sources, re-enactments, interviews, and performances of original musical works by Wagner's Jewish colleagues. Featuring Zubin Mehta and Leon Botstein among others, the film also explores the ongoing controversy over performing Wagner's music in Israel. The same questions asked in Wagner's time still resonate today: is it possible to separate the art from its creator? Can sublime music transcend prejudice and bigotry, and the weight of history? Directed by Hilan Warshaw 2013
