Na scénu se vrací Betina a její milenec Nikolai Rabinoff (Ivan Lebedeff). Následuje rvačka a vražda a Russell je podezřelý. June mu poskytne falešné alibi a tvrdí, že strávil noc v jejím bytě. Dnes je již mnoho tradičních hudebních nástrojů Etiopie nahrazeno elektronickými klávesami a sestava mnoha tradičních místních kapel se snížila na pouhého frontmana doprovázeného klávesami poskytujícími jak rytmus, tak melodii. Přesto stále existují hudebníci roztroušení po venkově, kteří hrají hudbu, jak se ji naučili od svých otců a matek; hudební nástroje jako Krar, Washent, Mashinko či Kabero i dnes řvou a odrážejí se od kopců této země plné kontrastů a rozmanitosti.
