Mr Small feels that he hasn't inspired the children of Elmore Junior High so Gumball and Darwin try to lift his spirits. To try and make Mr Small feel like he's inspired the students Gumball and Darwin try to follow every piece of advice Mr Small gives them. However when the vague platitudes lead to them trashing the school they need to hide the disaster from him to stop him realising how terrible his advice was.
