Married small-time con artist Irving Rosenfeld, who specialises in dealing fake art and personal loans, falls in love with scamster Sydney Prosser, and the pair work together. However, their cosy collaboration catches the eye of an FBI agent who offers them their freedom if they help him to entrap corrupt politicians. To make things more complicated, Rosenfeld's wife, aware of his other woman, threatens to go to the police if ever he leaves her.
